Collaborative Financial Consulting There are a number of dispute resolution options available to separating couples. Going to court is often the first one that comes to mind. Now, for an increasing number of clients this is not the preferred choice, Collaborative Practice is. Collaborative Practice involves engaging a team of professionals to work with you to help you make decisions about parenting, dividing assets and determining support payments. In Collaborative Practice, you and your spouse sign a participation agreement which includes your promise not to go to court. You agree to make all the necessary decisions by discussion with your spouse, with either lawyers or other team members present. Doreen’s experience with collaborative cases confirms the value of including a neutral financial specialist to help with the decisions that you need to make. Sometimes couples choose mediation. They too can retain Doreen. She will help you pull together your financial information and determine what the current situation is. Then, Doreen will illustrate the impact of the financial arrangements you are considering. Her customized projections will incorporate DIVORCEmate calculations for Spousal and Child support and help each of you understand more clearly what your future may be like.
